Faculty/Staff Library Services

Library Instruction and Course Support

The Library offers instruction services which are designed to help students, faculty, and staff develop essential research skills, while creating an awareness of the full range of library resources and services.

Instruction classes range from introductory sessions to more in-depth instruction on specific subject related reference works, databases, and internet resources. Librarians can work closely with faculty to develop course integrated assignments, instruction sessions, and customized How To Guides. Additionally, Librarians are happy to offer individual consultations with faculty members to introduce new library resources and refresh their awareness of subject area resources that the Library provides.

Library instruction classes can be held in the Library's computer lab for hands-on learning or in the classroom during the regularly scheduled course time.

Contact a Librarian to schedule a Library instruction class or to request the creation of a customized How To Guide.

Distance Learning Library Services

We are proud to provide the same level of service and library support to distance education faculty and students that is available to those enrolled in on-campus programs.

Visit the Distance and Online Education Hub for more information about this valuable service.

Course Reserves

The JCHS Library provides a means for faculty to supplement their curriculum and required textbooks by maintaining a special collection known as Course Reserves, which is generated by the faculty for their specific course needs.

Materials in the Course Reserves may be placed on reserve for a specific amount of time designated by the instructor. It is also possible to limit the materials to Library Use Only. Alternatively, the materials may also be checked out from the Library for an allotted time set by the instructor.

To place an item on Course Reserve, please contact a library staff member.
